Mrs. Nellie Mae Davis, age 56, of Rockmart, passed away October 20 at her residence. She was born April 11, 1916 in Polk County. She was the daughter of Mr. J. M. Cason and Willie Garrett Cason of Polk County. She is survived by her husband Butler L. Davis; two sisters, Mrs. Chester Pilgrim of Route 2 Rockmart and Mrs. J. H. Sanford of Route 1, Rockmart; 14 nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 22, at 3:00 p.m. from New Prospect Baptist Church with the Revs. Seaborn Swan and Lawrence Garrett officiating. Interment followed in New Prospect Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Witt, Albert Garrett, Met Garrett, Elias Sorrells, Paul Sorrells and Kelso Garrett. Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart was in charge of arrangements. (Cedartown Standard, October 24, 1912)
