Mrs. Ruby Ailene Deems, 85, 518 Hugh Deems Rd., Cedartown,
died Saturday, July 1, 2006.
Mrs. Deems was born in Bartow County, Ga. on Dec. 25, 1920,
a daughter of the late James Homer Collum and Annie Mae Brewer
Collum. She had been a resident of Polk County for the past 53
years and attended the Morning View Baptist Church. She retired
in 1986 from Integrated Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hugh Deems on
May 3, 1985, a brother; Mr. William F. (Son) Collum and a sister,
Mrs. Mary Lou Edwards.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Mangum, Snellville;
Mrs. Glenda Faye Johnson, Cedartown; Mrs. Patricia Sanford,
Rockmart and Mrs. Doris Wigley, Rockmart; 2 sisters, Mrs. Sally
Sorrells and Mrs. Catherine Garrett, both of Rockmart; brother, Mr.
James Collum, Aragon; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3 in the Chapel
of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McDowell,
Rev. Lawrence Garrett and Rev. Hoyt Lewis officiating.
Interment was in Aragon Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Daniel Johnson, Derek Nettles, Sidney Forsyth,
Spender Mangum, Ronnie Gray, Heath Knudsen, Gevin Johnson
and Jeffrey Wigley.
The Alvis Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
