Walter Floyd Dingler Dies On Vacation
Walter Floyd Dingler, age 59, of 3011 Sanson Avenue, died unexpectedly last Tuesday in Knoxville, Tennessee while on vacation.
A native of Cedartown, Mr. Dingler was a postman having been employed by the Alabama City post office for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church and had resided in Gadsden for 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nelle Willard Dingler; a daughter, Miss Mary Ann Dingler and a son, Willard Wray Dingler, all of Alabama City; his mother, Mrs. Mary W. Dingler, Cedartown; and three brothers, Hall and Lee Dingler of Cedartown, and Jack Dingler, Rome, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Alabama City Methodist Church with the Revs. S. E. Paulk. John Perkins and George W. Riddle officiating.
Burial was in the Forest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jack Isbell, Wilson Logan, Lee Fitts, C. D. Byrum, Joe Neal, Ernest Collins, M. D. Leather, and Barney Sauls. Honorary pallbearers were all employees of the Alabama City post office, Joe Herndon, Woodrow Igoee, James Hedgepath, George Prickett, Brewster Jackson, John Fields, Gilbert Watson, George W. Floyd and all members of the Upper Room Sunday School Class of Alabama City Methodist Church.
The body remained at the residence to lie in state until the hour of the service.
