Edward Joseph Downey, age 65 of Rome, passed away Monday, October 14, 1996 in a Rome hospital. Mr. Downey was born March 7, 1931 in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. He was a cook and of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Downey, and parents, Edward J. and Anna Lewis Downey. Surviving are; daughter, Christine Richey of Rockmart, and granddaughter, Ashley Kimberlyn Richey of Rockmart. Graveside services were held Friday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. from the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Douglasville, with Deacon W. O. Rusmisel officiating. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, Ga., Tuesday, October 22, 1998)
