Mr. Vernon Daniel Dunn
Mr. Vernon Daniel Dunn, 72, 658 Taylorsville Road, Aragon, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 in a Rome Medical Center following several years of declining health.
He was born in Bartow County, Ga. on Sept. 5, 1935, a son of the late Dorsey Eugene Dunn and Linda Lavada Tate Dunn. He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. He was a former carpenter, mechanic and farmer.
He was preceded in death by brothers; Edward, Gene, J.T., and Dewayne Dunn and by sisters; Maggie Bollen, Evelyn Jones, Ann Godwin, Katherine Fennell, Ruth Mason and Jeanette Bagley. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Maddox Dunn of Aragon to whom he was married on May 29, 1954; one daughter, Ms. Elaine Dunn, Aragon; one son, Mr. Danny Dunn and his wife Tina of Aragon; one sister, Mrs. Sue Waters, Aragon; one brother, Mr. Kenneth Dunn, Cumming, Ga; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Shoemaker and Rev. Danny Dunn officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers included William Dunn, Evan Brown, Kevin Elsberry, J.R. Haney, Kevin Owens, Lebron West, Tony Hamby, Jessie Perkins, Ray Singleton, Johnny Lee Summerville,Jr., Anthony Summerville and Lee Lowery.
The Alvis Miller Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
