Idell Dyer
Idell Dyer, 78, of 1079 Browning Rd., Rockmart, died Saturday, January 6, 2007 in a Rome Medical Center following several years of declining health. Miss Dyer was born in Polk County, Ga. on November 8, 1928, a daughter of Johnny G. Dyer and Odie Mae Lewis Dyer. She had lived her entire life in Polk County. She retired from the Arrow Plant formerly located in Buchanan with 38 years of service. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, had 27 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School and had served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Sunday School Department for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew, Jon Timothy Dyer. Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Mozelle McBurnett and Mrs. Fronnie Mae Brown both of Rockmart; brother, Mr. Melvin Dyer of Rockmart; brother-in-law, Mr. Harold Compton of Rockmart; nieces, Tina Williams, Pam Garrett, Susan Wood and Melba White; nephews, Tony Brown, Chris Brown, Mike McBurnett, and Ronnie Dyer; number of great nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Parris, Rev. Charles Dyer, and Rev. Hoyt Lewis officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers included Tony Brown, Chris Brown, Mike McBurnett, Ronnie Dyer, Jason Howard, Zachary Howard, John Dyer and Mitch Williams. The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
