Mittie Knight Dyer
Mrs. Mittie Knight Dyer, 70, 1873 Browning Road, Rockmart, died Sunday, October 24, 2004 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Polk County on Sept. 22, 1934, a daughter of the late M.A. and Mozelle Trammell Knight. Mrs. Dyer had lived most of her life in the Rockmart area where she was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by a son, Jon Timothy Dyer; Feb. 3, 1992 and sister, Ms. Patricia Knight Oct. 12, 2003.
Surviving are her husband, Melvin Dyer, Rockmart, to whom she was married July 31, 1955; daughter, Mrs. Melba Dyer White, Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Ronnie Dyer, Rockmart; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Yarbrough, Mrs. Joyce Duncan and Mrs. Annette Dunn, all of Rockmart and Mrs. Frances Roberts, Dalton; two grandsons; nieces and nephews. Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Dyer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Asked to serve as pallbearers were Ronnie Dyer, Jon Dyer, Michael Duncan, J.W. Duncan, Mike McBurnett and Ronald Burnley. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Wood and Timothy Aaron Dyer.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
