Mrs. Dean East, 73, 118 Old Cartersville Road, Rockmart,
died Monday, June 3, 2002 in an Atlanta hospital following
a brief illness.
She was born in Dallas, Ga. November 19, 1928, the daughter
of Frank Carruth and Lora Champion Carruth.
Mrs. East had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart
where she was a member of the Aragon United Methodist Church
and had been a member of the Rockmart-Aragon Rebekah Lodge
No. 28 since 1956.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Pam Stegall on
February 7, 1987 and her mother, Mrs. Lora McWhorter on May
19, 2001.
Survivors include her husband, Gene East of Rockmart to whom
she was married on December 20, 1947; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanie
East of Rockmart; one son, Johnny East of Dallas; nine grandchildren;
11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5 in the Chapel
of The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Ray officiating.
Interment was in Rose Cemetery. (Should this be Rose Hill Cemetery?)
Grandsons serving as pallbearers included; Ray Tant, Shane Petty,
Jeff Groom, Tommy Groom, Bobby East and Derek Elliott.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
