Mr. Preston A. Elliott, age
72, of Rockmart, passed away Friday, February
27, 1998 in a Rome Hospital. Mr. Elliott was born April 10, 1925, in
Atlanta. He was a member, deacon, and Adult IV Sunday School Teacher at
Rockmart First Baptist, a retired Master Contractor, a U.S. Seabee
Veteran
of WWII, and a former member of the Rockmart Kiwanis Club. He was preceded
in death by his parents, John Henry and Delia Mae Ingram Elliott.
Survivors
include a wife, Cristeen G. Elliott of Rockmart; three sons, Preston R.
Elliott of Sanford, N.C., Mark D. Elliott of Gainesville, Fla., and Brad
S.
Elliott of Rockmart; five daughters, Sandre Gentry of Mount City, Tenn.,
Debra Moncrief of Orlando, Fla., Ronda Tannehill of Ocala, Fla., Brenda
Garret of Lake Mary, Fla., and Linda Foster of Merritt Island. Fla.;
two
sisters, Lois Wilson and Edna Elliott, both of Rockmart. Thirteen
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. The funeral service was
held
Sunday, March 1, 1998, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with the
Rev.
David Taylor officiating and Eulogies by Mrs. Sandra Gentry and Mr. Brad
Elliott. Interment followed in New Prospect Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Kerry Gentry, Preston R. Elliott, Jerry Garrett, David Butler, Brad
Elliott,
Justin Moncrief, Michael Moncrief, and Ryan Elliott. Honorary
pallbearers
were Bubba Holland, O. E. Smith, Dennis Prater, and Robert Young
(members of
the Adult 4 Sunday School Class). Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in
charge
of the arrangements.
