Mr. Elmer William Garrett
Mr. Elmer William Garrett, age 86 of Clarkwood Road, Rockmart passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.
Mr. Garrett was born on October 25, 1922 in Rockmart, son of the late Sidney Griffin Garrett and the late Margie Inez Haney Garrett. He was a United States veteran having served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Garrett retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1986 after 20 years of service and was a member of Morning View Baptist Church. Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Collum Garrett on June 9, 2008; three brothers, Albert W. Garrett, Tony M. Garrett and James E. Garrett; and step-mother, Lula Underwood Garrett.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley & Lynn Garrett of Rockmart and Jacky Garrett of Sandy Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Mark Saturday of The Netherlands; one brother, Lawrence Garrett of Rockmart; three sisters, Lois Presley of Powder Springs, Audrey Seabrook and Margie Seabrook both of Marietta; and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Garrett of Aragon. Five grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Garrett will be held on Sunday, November 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Morning View Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Campbell and Rev. Bud Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Bellview Church Cemetery with American Legion Brown-Wright Post #12 in charge of military graveside rites.
Pallbearers will be Keith Sorrells, Ben Stone, Jerry Campbell, Steve Collum, Ian Saturday, Sean Saturday, Johnny Garrett and Rev. Charles Garrett.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, November 22nd between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m.
