Mrs. Hamrick

Mary Virginia Brock Hamrick, 92, Cedartown died at home on Wednesday, July 19, 2006. Mrs. Hamrick was born on June 25, 1914 in Cedartown to the late Gayle Brock and Janie Frances Simpson Brock. Mary Virginia graduated from Cedartown High School and was an honor graduate of Piedmont College in 1935. She taught in the Cedartown School System for over thirty years, retiring in 1974. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke S. Hamrick; son, Hoke Brock Hamrick and brother, Gayle Brock, Jr. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Janie Hamrick Jacobs and Delton Jacobs of Columbia, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Gayle Brock Hamrick and Kathy Barr Hamrick of Augusta and daughter-in-law, Nancy Hamrick of Erwin, TN.; grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at the Friendship Baptist Church, Cave Spring Rd., Cedartown. Rev. Wayne Benefield officiated. Family members served as pallbearers. The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (The Rockmart Journal - July 21, 2006)
