Mrs. Gertha Herndon, 91, of Rt. 1 Silver Creek, passed away early this morning in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was born January 9, 1881 in Polk County and had lived all of her life here. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ona Pope and Mrs. Sara Davis, both of Silver Creek, GA; two sons, Mr. Preston N. Herndon (I Have Him As Joseph Preston Herndon) of Rome; Mr. Rupert Herndon of Rt. 1, Silver Creek; two brothers, Mr. Lawson West and Mr. Ben West, both of Cedartown. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren (Is This Supposed To Be Great-Great Grandchildren?)
Funeral services will be conducted today at 4 p.m. from the Pine Bower Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Vines and J. H. Mull officiating. Interment to follow in the Pine Bower Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Gammage Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
