Well-Known Polk Citizen Died on Monday Funeral services for Joel Herndon, age 66, well-known Cedartown citizen, were held from Pine Bower church Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Walter Moore and Rev. Steve Garner. Music was rendered by W. O. Barrow, Harl Logan, Arthur Garmon and Mrs. Gus Morton.
Arthur Garmon, Jack West, Lawson West, Jr., Charlie Joe West, George Blankenship and Van Meroney served as pallbearers. Interment followed in Pine Bower Cemetery, with Roberts Funeral home in charge.
Mr. Herndon passed away Monday at his home on Airport Way. He had spent a long and useful life in Polk county. He was a successful planter and had been a member of the First Baptist church for years.
Surviving are the widow, two sons Preston and Rupert Herndon and two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Davis of Cedartown, and Mrs. Bland Pope, Steadman, Alabama.
