William J."Billy" McBurnett
William Jackson "Billy" McBurnett, age 72, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005. Mr. McBurnett was a retired Captain with The Paulding County Sheriff's Office. Born in Cedartown, Georgia, he was the son of the late Henry Wesley and Mattie (Tims) McBurnett. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was owner of McBurnett Amoco Station in Hiram for 23 years; he was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hiram where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He was also a member of the Bartlett Masonic Lodge # 139. He is survived by his son, Lance D. McBurnett of Dallas; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara and Leonard Baines of Rockmart, Eva Ross of Burlington, N.C.; Jewell Davis of Cross Hill, S.C.; grandson Matthew McBurnett. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Williams officiating with burial in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home of Hiram was in charge of arrangements. (The Dallas New Era - December 2005)
