Mrs. Leila Phillips Passes Away
Mrs. Leila Phillips passed away at her home on College street at 5:45 Sunday afternoon, aged fifty-eight. She has been in delicate health for the past five years, which during the past few months took a serious turn.
Mrs. Phillips was prominently connected and has endeared herself to a large circle of friends. She was a Methodist and a very earnest church worker.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Union, S.C., her family moving to Cave Spring in 1886. In 1889 she married Mr. J. H. Phillips, of Cedartown, and moved here. Mr. Phillips preceded her in death, lacking one day of being eightteen years. Mr. Phillips was one of the leading business men of Cedartown.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. W. Pickett; two brothers: Mr. W. F. Norman of Atlanta, and Mr. G. M. Norman of Cedartown; and four sisters, Mrs. F. C. Duke of Union, S.C., Mrs. J. H. Dilingbeck of Morrison, Ill., Mrs. F. R. Shegogg of Columbia, Tenn., and Mrs. Clara Huff of Cedartown.
The funeral was held at home Tuesday morning at 10:30, Rev. W. H. Cooper conducting the services. Among those out-of-town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Gowan, of Rome; Mr. W. F. Norman, of Atlanta; Mrs. F. C. Duke, of Union, S.C.
