Mrs. Ruby Irene Camp Pinkard, age 91 of Rockmart passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009.
Mrs. Pinkard was born on June 10, 1918 in Polk County, daughter of the late Allen Camp and the late Lizzie Sorrells Camp. She was a retired textile worker and was a charter member of the Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Pinkard was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Fred Pinkard; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Moore and Mrs. Polly Cook; two brothers, Mr. Glover Camp and Mr Fred Camp; two sons-in-law, Mr. Don Williams and Rev. Russell Jolly; and a great-grandson, Samuel David Williams.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jean & Phil Akins of Rockmart, Linda Williams of Rockmart, Donna & W. L. Vinson of Cedartown and Polly & Bill McCarty of Rockmart. Twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pinkard will be held on Friday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Snapp and the Rev. Neal Smith officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the Bellview Church Cemetery.
The following grandsons have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Todd Akins, Scott Akins, David Williams, Greg Gober, Daniel Head and Devin Lester.
Serving as honorary escorts will be Edna Brumbelow, Jude & Michelle Badon, Andy & Angie Shurley, Lester & Madge Thomas, Paul & Judy Badon, Charles & Retha Dansby, Jack & Lelia Lindsey, Bobbie Sue Carter and Jimmy Purser.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, September 24th between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m.
Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Irene Camp Pinkard.
