Carl Joe Reid
Carl Joe Reid, 78, of Huntsville, Ala., died Friday April 18, 2008. He was born in Ragland, Ala., (on Feb. 8, 1930) and was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jean Harrison. (He was the son of the late James and Bessie Tims Reid of Cedartown.) He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service in the Army he returned to Cedartown where he met and married his wife Jean. In 1958 they moved to Huntsville to work for the Army at Redstone Arsenal. In 1961, he opened Reid Hardware, which he continued to operate until his death. Survivors include his son, Russell Harrison Reid of Huntsville; daughter, Laurie Reid Bragg and husband Alan of Huntsville; two granddaughters and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Rev. Brant Butler and Billy Bell officiating. (Laughlin Funeral Home of Huntsville was in charge of the arrangements.)
