Everett B. Scott
Mr. Everett B. (Junior) Scott, 74, 331 Morgan Valley Rd., Rockmart, died suddenly Saturday, December 15,2007 in a Rome medical Center.
Mr. Scott was born in Bartow County on April 17, 1933, a son of the late Everett Clemmons Scott and Irene Brewer Scott. He had been a resident of Rockmart since 1956. He was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion. He retired from the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation of Marietta following 42 years of service. He was presently working as a security officer at Tip Top Poultry in Rockmart.
A brother, Mr. Frank Scott, Sr. and a granddaughter, Mrs. Jill Gamel Coffman, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Joyce Scott of Rockmart; daughters, Mrs.Neva Williams Gamel and her husband Jerry of Rockmart and Mrs. Lisa Scott Thaxton and her husband Hank of Rockmart; brother, Mr. Charles Scott and his wife Joyce of Forest Park; sister, Mrs. Imogene Dabbs and her husband Nolan of Rockmart; sister-in-law Mrs. Carolyn Scott; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bennie Thomas officiating and Haley Kato reading scripture. Interment was held in Rose Hill Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post# 12 in charge of military graveside rites.
Pallbearers included Steve Brumbelow, Mark Broome, Kevin Loyd, Zack Dabbs, Frankie Scott III, Jeff Brock, Hank Thaxton, Jr., and Chase Wilson.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
