Ivey Shepard
Mr. Ivey Shepard, 83, 273 McBride Road, Rockmart, died Tuesday, Dec.11, 2007 in a Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome.
Mr. Shepard was born in Paulding County, Ga. on June 15, 1924, a son of the late James Alfred Shepard and Vida Tant Shepard. He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He owned and operated Shepard Poultry Farm for many years and for the past 18 years had been employed by PKW Building Supply of Dallas, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Louise Burrell Shepard on Jan. 5, 2002; brothers, Walter, Doyal, Ernest and Amos Shepard and sisters, Mae Akins, Stella Holland and Mattie Lee.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Smith and her husband Randy; son, Mr. Clifford Shepard and his wife, Corrinne Shepard, all of Rockmart; sisters, Mrs. Mary Dunn and Mrs. Kate Watts, both of Rockmart; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Peggy Burrell and Mrs. Carolyn Burrell; brother, Virgil Lee; five grandchildren, Shannon and Jeremy Gibel, Josh and Jennifer Smith, Rodney and Michelle Moon, Denise and Bill Kiser and Steven and Angie Moon; 13 grandchildren and other relatives.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 in the Fairview Baptist Church with Revs. Tony Weaver, Larry Davis and Calvin Brown officiating. Interment was in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Alfred, Jerry, Larry and Eddie Dunn, William Burrell, Perry Williams, Mark Broome and Buddy Stephenson.
Honorary pallbearers were a great grandson, great nephew and employees of PKW Building Supply.
The Alvis Miller & son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
