Mr. Franklin E. Smith, age 75, of Cedartown, GA, and formerly of LaGrange, Ga passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born on July 2, 1933 in Troupe Co., GA to the late Henry Grady Smith and Martha Ella Butler Smith. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Smith, Jack Smith, and Paul Smith, a sister, Sybil Nauss and a special niece, Charity Hester. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading. He is survived by his sisters, Eva Cardwell of Cedartown and Charlotte Tucker of Pine Mt., GA, his aunt, Sybil Sellers of LaGrange, GA and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Graveside and Interment services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA, with the Rev. Jimmy McMillian officiating and Lindsey Stephens delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30th, from 1:30 until 3:30 at the Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in LaGrange, Ga. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown, GA in corporation with the stiffer Funeral Home of LaGrange, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
