Mrs. Jewell Beatrice Powers Smith
Mrs. Jewell Beatrice Powers Smith, 82, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008. She was born April 23, 1926, in Claysville, Ala., the daughter of the late Mr. William Christopher Powers and Mrs. Sally Beatrice Rollings Powers. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a devoted wife of 62 years. She was also a member of East View Baptist Church, the East View WMU, and the Cedar Valley Shrinettes. She is preceded in death by her son, Larry J. Smith and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Monroe J. Smith; daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Mullen, Tammy and Timmy Odom; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Cathy Smith; daughter-in-law, Dian Smith; sisters, Dorothy (Dot) Sims, of Guntersville, Ala. and Ruby Green, of Rainesville, Ala.; brothers, Julian (Pat) Powers, of Cleveland, Tenn. and Billy Powers, of Albertville, Ala. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m., at East View Baptist Church with Rev. Reginald Campbell officiating. Interment followed in Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jason Smith, Scott Smith, Nick Smith, Jeremy Mullen, William Smith, and Darrell Sims. Honorary pallbearers were: Kristie Smith, Madison Odom, Keely Smith, Christopher Smith, and Logan Smith. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to East View Baptist Church. The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home handled the funeral arrangements.
