History of Pulaski County Court Records

Georgia Superior Court Records date back to 1809.  Probate Court Records began in 1809.    Marriage records from 1810 - 1867, are in record group 216, at the Georgia State Archives.  Georgia began requiring marriages be recorded 6, December 1805, though some officials failed to record them.  Marriages had to be recorded in the Bride's county of residence.  Until 1833 couples had to obtain the consent of the Georgia Legislature to obtain a divorce.  See Georgia State Legislative Acts, Pulaski County, GA.
