Columbus died yesterday. Jan 28, 1876 Mr. J. M. Mason, a planter living near Gordon in Henry County Alabama fell overboard a steamer near Fort Gaines Georgia. Eufaula Times March 17 1876 Judge William H. Walker died in Athens, Georgia on the 4th.
May 31 1877 Dr. J. L. Cheney of Columbus Georgia died on Thurs. last. Mrs. Thomas K. Wynne wife of one of the proprietors of the Columbus Georgia Sun died last Friday age 89. The death of Mrs. Columbus Chambliss of near Antioch in Stewart County Georgia occurred recently. She had been married about a year, she was Miss Amelia Wright the daughter of Y. F. Wright of Stewart County Georgia. April 2 1877 Joel Osborn and Thomas Henderson died from a train accident recently. Both lived in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Wm. McLeod of Eufaula died recently, He had lived here nearly 40 years. Born in Cumberland County, NC on Jan 30 1810. When he was 18 he emigrated with his father to Washington County, Ga. then to Stewart County Ga. from Stewart County Ga. he moved to Barbour County Al.. He joined the M. E. Church in his 17th year. He married Miss F. E. Birdsong Jan 17 1849 who survives him. Aug. 30 1877 Edward E. McGehee age 17 the son of William and Cynthia A. McGehee of Quitman County Georgia died on the 25th inst. June 21 1879 The son of Mr. E. A. DeBoss of Quitman County Ga. was accidentally killed recently. 4/16/2004
