Rev. James P. Cooper who was born March 31, 1873 in Meriwether County, Georgia.
He later lived in Coweta County, Georgia. In 1902 he was called to the pastorate at Spalding Mills.
He later served Oak Hill, Tirzah and Devalie Baptist. These records are transcribed from a copy of a
typed record of his ministry, which was most likely transcribed from his hand written notes. As such,
there are probably many spelling errors (possibly even in the names of churches.) These records include
marriages, funerals and baptisms performed by Rev. Cooper during the years 1902 - 1906. In Oct. 1906
Rev. Cooper began serving a church in Athens, Georgia and remained in Clarke County until his death in 1932.
