Census Information

Taylor was formed in 1852 from  Crawford, Talbot, Marion, and Macon Counties as well as others. Researchers will need to search  the records of the county they lived in prior to the formation of Taylor in 1852.

The 1850 Census was the first census that showed all family members, numbered the house holds in the order of visitation.

Name, age, sex, marital status, occupation and children oldest to youngest.  All household members are listed including borders and other relatives. Later census would include slave schedules.  1890 census was destroyed by a fire in Washington DC.
