to a sweet little girl who came recently to brighten his home.
Messrs. Patterson and Champion, of Doles, Smith, of Ashburn, and
Wooten of Ruark attended the M. (matrimonial) court here Sunday, but somehow
the judge's case occupied all of his majesty's time, talent, and attention.
The other cases were scattered to the “four ends of the earth.”
Jon
Mrs. Nobles is to hang next Friday. It was nearly two years ago
that she and the negro Gus Fambles killed her husband, and her case has
been through all of the courts. The negro is to hang a few weeks
later.
Eighteen of the Lucy Cobb girls ran away from the Institute on the
first of April and celebrated the day. One of the pranks was to order
18 glasses of soda water and then pass out without touching them.
Many other tricks were played and they had a joyful time generally.
But Mrs. Lipscomb -- poor old soul - we met her at Elberton
last year -- she mortal ugly - is principal of the college and wanted
to do something smart, if you please, very smart, and she expelled the
girls. But we desist for fear she will come down here and expel us.
The girls were returned, however, but they ought to get their education
where they know the age of girls and what time of year it is.
