| This page contains links that will
help you in your research. It has suggestions on how to post queries
at AHGP, Rootsweb/Ancestry.com and Genforum. The links to these forums
can be found below. There is also a list of volunteers who can help
you with your Turner County Georgia research. This page also contains
information on how to join the Turner County mail list, which is also a
great way to post a query and find others researching your surname.
Rootsweb also has mail list for surnames and other groups. For a
listing go to: http://lists.rootsweb.com/
When you post a query whether it
be at one of the forums or mail list put as much information in the query
as you can. Display surnames in all caps. It is considered
yelling if the whole query is in all caps. Some researchers may yell
at you for using all caps. If you have hand/wrist problems and cannot
do the shift key all small letters is considered to be okay.

Visit The
ROOTS-L Library, it contains a lot of information on how to get started
with genealogy.
Go through the genealogy lessons
at RootsWeb Guides
to Tracing Family Trees . There are other guides at other sites.
You can find them by doing a Google Search
and typing in "genealogy lessons".
Google is also a good way to find
web sites that contain your surname. Please don't think that all
that is written on the internet or books is the truth. Make sure
that you document your research and if you find someone that has your family
lines on the web make you sure you document their work too. You could
wind up researching the wrong line if you don't.
Check out your local library.
Some have a genealogy department that contains lots of research material.
Some libraries have Ancestry Library Edition for free.. They may
also offer other free resources on the computer such as Heritage
Quest Online .
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints
(Mormons) have History Centers. Through them can be ordered many
records and books contained on microfilm and microfiche. To find
a History Center near you go to: History
Centers. To search their catalog go to: Catalog.
To do a surname search go to: Surname
Search. If you don't have a computer program to put your information
in you can download one from: Downloads.
