It is important to know the history of each county. After it was created, each county’s territory could and often did change over time. Disputed boundaries, creation of new counties and improved surveys, could  and did change the boundaries of a county.  Campbell and Milton counties, by an act of the General Assembly merged these counties into Fulton County. Names of counties also changed.  Cass was changed to Bartow.  Jasper was once Randolph.  Webster was once named Kinchafoonee County. The current Randolph county is not in the same area as the first Randolph county.
