Reference Material
It has been requested that I have a page for books and other materials on Pioneers held captive. I hope this helps. I keep my books for a while then I donate them to my library. The donation is tax deductible.
Of all the stories I have read and had sent to me. The one that haunts me is Olive Oatman and her family.
You will find all of these books haunting. I have read them all. There are many more that I have read but they are now out of print and are not listed. You may want to check your library to see if they may have the out of print books.

I'm a descendant of Jenny Wiley .I 've heard the story about her, when I was a
child growing up. I've also shared this book with my 4 children. Who enjoyed it
a lot. They tell all there friends how famous & brave she was to escape from
the Indians .I like to see more Kids read books like this. They sure would be surprise
what people went through back in those days.

Great intro to Southwest Indian Culture, December 12, 1998

I read this book when I was in the eight grade, that was 1969. It was
spellbinding.....an account of captive torture was probably too unsettling for a
thirteen year old, but otherwise, awesome. It introduced me to Comanche culture
and started an interest in American Indian history that has continued to this
day. Fabulous read! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable
