Cole Family

Hi!  My name is Pat Mount - pmount@fnr.umass.edu.  Phillip Cole is my husband's ancestor.  I've included the family group sheet for his family. Following that is the story (in poem form) of Phillip's daughter Sarah who was captured by Indians and carried off to Canada where she was eventually sold by her Indian captors to a Canadian named Sandy Campbell who owned a hotel. Eventually someone recognized her and helped her to escape.  She arrived home on the day of her mother's funeral. This story (not in poem form) has been passed down through the family but I have not had the opportunity, at this point, to research it to see if there are any records of these events.  This story was repeated in a written family history (circa 1933) that came from another branch of the family and the "facts" are consistent with what has been passed down orally in our branch. My son wrote the poem in Jr. High in response to an assignment on family history. Pat Mount - pmount@fnr.umass.edu
