Cottrell Family

Joseph and Doris Rawlings: My ancestor's brother, Samuel Cottrell, was captured or killed by Indians, in Harrison County, WVA sometime between 1770-1790. Some member of the family was said to have been captured at the same time; and one of the family is supposed to be half Indian (obviously the woman captured either came back or the child born was rescued.) At any rate, there are two Thomas Cottrell/Cottrills in that general area at the same time. My husband's direct ancestor, Michael Rawlings, aka Moses Rawlings, was killed in 1787 by Shawnees at the family station near Blanquette Creek, Pendleton or Harrison Co. KY. A brother, name not known, possibly Aaron, was killed at the same time.
