Craig Family

Has anyone ever written in about a Samuel Craig Sr. first married to Elizabeth McDonald, then to Jane Boyd.? The family has been told for years that Samuel Craig moved his family to Westmoreland co., Pennsylvania, near Loyalhanna in 1772. That Samuel and three of his sons became a part of the militia that was organize at Hannaton on May 16,1777. to protect the settlement in western Pennsylvania. Was a commissioned Lieutenant in Colonel John Proctor's Battalion. Participated in several battles with General Washington troops in 1776. On Nov 1, 1777, he was on his way to Fort Legionier to get salt, part of his military duty as a commissary officer. He never arrived at the fort and is believed to have been taken prisoner on Chestnut Ridge by the Indians. Since he was never exchanged, the family has always believed he died in Indian captivity. Is there any way you can help me prove this story handed down for generations in the Samuel Craig, Sr to McClelland line ( marriage of Samuel Craig daughter by Elizabeth McDonald, Esther to William McClelland son of William McClelland, Sr, and Ruth Carlo of Scotish descent.) We are told that William McClelland and three of his brothers served as soldiers in the Revolutionary Army. I want to confirm this just for my family records. If I pass it on down to my grandchildren, I want it to be verified. Carolyn Blackburn King-- crbking@webtv.net with a mix of Ryan, Craig and McClelland.
