A Shawnee Chief, held as hostage, was shot in cold blood & his tribe went raging on the warpath until CLARK took the field and burned their stronghold at Chillicothe, Ohio. Earlier ninety Christian Delawares, dwelling peaceably in the Ohio Moravian settlement had been massacred- by a band of Pennsylvanians...Colonel William CRAWFORD, who was captured and tortured to death, vainly begging the white renegade, Simon GIRTY, to shoot him and end his agonies.
