outdated and many changes have taken place since they were compiled back in the
early to mid 1980s. Birth and death dates and any additional information will be
listed as found.
Important News:
Thanks to Mr. Elliott Evans who sent me a copy of an article
written by, Gary Tanner, Telegraph Staff Writer, in the Macon Telegraph,
June 1, 2004, I learned that the grave of Sparta's founder, Revolutionary War
Office, Maj. Charles Abercrombie had been located.
A group of volunteers found the grave after extensive searches
in the area. The same group has documented the locations of 247 cemeteries in
Hancock County, GA.
I plan to contact the group and find out the exact location of
Maj. Abercrombie's grave and will add the information to this page in the near
future.
