Bryan, John [Col. PS NC] b 1722 NC d 5-25-1801 Jones Co., NC  m Rebecca Martin. All of their children moved to GA.  He was the son of Edward Bryan, Craven Co., NC and wife Ann.  Edward Bryan was probably grandson of William Bryan, Marquis of Thormond, and his wife Lady Alice Needham. See Register by Hathaway, page 582, Vol. 1, #4, N.C. Children of John and Rebecca Bryan: Edward born in Craven Co., NC 1759, married Susanna Blackshear; John Hill Bryan born in Craven Co., NC 1761, died in Thomas Co., GA in 1826, married Elizabeth Harrison. See Montgomery County 1820 Census.  Susannah Blackshear was a daughter of James Blackshear, a German immigrant, who settled near Trenton, NC and later moved to Twiggs Co., GA. He married Catherine (Francks) Bush, a widow. The sons of Col. John Bryan all applied for land grants through their fathers Revolutionary War service.
