MACON DAlLY TELEGRAPH

 Tuesday, July I, 1862. .

  A SAD ACCIDENT

On Saturday, Lieut. Ellison, of the Corbin Grays, from Taylor County, became the victim of an accidental discharge of a pistol in the hands of a comrade. It is said to be purely an accident. Lieut. E., seeing his comrade with a pistol, which was a small self cocking one, asked him where he got so much pistol from, to which some light reply was made, and the pistol went off, the contents lodging in the left side of Lieut. E. The unfortunate man lingered until yesterday, when he expired. His remains were carried immediately to Taylor County for interment. He was a brave and gallant man, and his loss is deeply felt by his company.

This is another warning against the careless use of pistols in camp. A pocket knife is far preferable to a pistol.

We were highly pleased with our visit to the new camp of Jack Brown's regiment, yesterday, as well as with the sturdy appearance of the men generally. The Corbin Grays are a fine corps.
