"Died on the 6th inst. in his 20th year, Thompson BIRD, Jr., oldest
son of Dr. BIRD. He had served in the late expedition as a volunteer
under Gen. FLOYD, in Capt. THOMAS' company of artillery; and developed
inflammation of the lungs while in service, which finally terminated
his life. Oct. 12, 1814."

"Died on the 28th ult. at his plantation on the Ogeechee in Bryan County,
Israel BIRD, Esq., age 64 years. Remains were buried the next day in the
family burial ground. Jan. 4, 1803."

In Effingham County on 2nd inst., Mrs. Hannah BIRD, wife of Lewis BIRD,
in her 26th year. Husband and two small children survive. Oct. 7, 1808."

"William BIRD of Effingham County reports the finding of a dead man
on the 8th inst. on the road to Rev. John BECK'S ferry. Inquest was
held and verdict was that the deceased was Matthew O'BRYAN of South
Carolina, and that he had been murdered by parties unknown. He was
enroute back to S. C. Spet. 18, 1809."
