Montgomery Weekly Advertiser, March 9, 1886:
(Columbus, GA, March 4) Mr. H.S. SPARKS, aged 50 years, and a prominent
cotton dealer of this city, died today.
Montgomery Daily Advertiser, March 6, 1886:
(Columbus, Georgia, March 6) The remains of Maj. A.M. ALLEN were brought to
this city this morning and are now at the residence of his brother, C.H.
ALLEN. The family accompanied the remains here. Mrs. Mary E. WORRILL died at
Talbotton, Georgia, today. She was the widow of the late Judge Ebound H.
WORRILL.
Montgomery Daily Advertiser, March 11, 1886:
Major A.M. ALLEN, the subject of this notice, was born near Greenville,
Meriwether County, Georgia, on the 26th of October 1823, and on Friday, March
5th,
1866, he died… The church will miss him, for since early manhood he has been a
zealous member of the Methodist Church… (Lengthy article)
