William G. Albee

 

William (Bill) G. Albee, 80, of 304 E. 17th St. N. died of a heart attack Friday, Feb. 15, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Father Fritz Kramer officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home where family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Allen L. and Julia E. (Dodd) Albee he was born April 7, 1921, in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1939. On June 6, 1973, he married Donna R. Grimm in Reno, Nev. He worked for Coast to Coast for 20 years and was an insurance agent for New York Life for 22 years. He retired in 1984. He grew up in Newton and then lived In Santa Rosa, Calif. for 25 years, moving back to Newton in 1998. Mr. Albee was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, past president of the Lions Club of Newton and a life member of VFW Post 1655. He served in the United States Army during World War II. 

Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, Bill Jr. and Pam of Round Rock, Texas, three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Burt Breckenridge Jr. and Sherry Golik, all of Newton and Janet Brown of San Antonio, Texas; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Ruth Anne and Terry Shuey of Grinnell and Barbara and Walt Madison of Rapid City, S.D., 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Lucille Albee of Park Rapids, Mich., and Robert and Sharon Albee of Silver Springs, Fla.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandchild in infancy and a sister.
