Celestine Nora Annis KENOSHA,
Wis. — Celestine "Toots" Nora Annis, 90, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly
of Newton, died of heart failure Sunday, Oct. 28, at Washington Manor Nursing
Home in Kenosha. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence Funeral
Home in Newton with the Rev. Dave Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Newton
Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at .the funeral home
where family will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in
her name to First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society. The
daughter of Charles Malcolm and Nora Curtis Henderson, she was born Sept. 16,
1911, in Tarkio, Mo. She graduated from Colfax High School. On Nov. 23, 1929,
she married Don L. Annis in Newton. Mrs.
Annis was employed by Dun-Lap in the 1950s, the Maytag Hotel Coffee Shop in the
1930s and was a silk-screen operator for the Vernon Company for 20 years,
retiring in 1974. She was a member of First Christian Church. She lived in
Newton from 1929 until 1993 when she moved to Kenosha. Survivors
include two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Anderson of Bella Vista, Ark.,
and Janet and Vic Horswell of Kenosha, Wis., five grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren and a brother, Mac "Mavis" Henderson of Colfax. She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, six brothers and
