Kenneth Paul Berkey

COLFAX — Kenneth Paul Berkey, 84, of Colfax died Monday, Feb. 18, at USA Healthcare Newton. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jill Flyr officiating. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements. Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial will be accepted to the Colfax United Methodist Church or the Colfax Public Library.

The son of Harry J. and Adeline (Florman) Berkey, he was born July 19, 1917, In Montour. He graduated from Mitchellville High School in 1935. On Nov. 4, 1938, he married Dorothy Mae Crawford in Bethany, Mo. He was a farmer and a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church, longtime 4-H leader and a member of the Colfax Library Board. He lived in Ankeny and Mitchellville, and in Colfax since 1950.                

Survivors include his wife two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Linda of Newton and Larry and Doris of Kansas City, Mo., a daughter-in-law, Connie Berkey of Colfax, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Virgil of Deer Creek, Minn.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a brother and a sister.
