Edward U. Bucklin 

BAXTER — Edward U. Bucklin, 83, of Baxter died from complications of cancer Friday, Feb. 15 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter with his grandson, the Rev. Robert Bucklin of Knoxville, officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Wallace Family Funeral Home is Newton is handling arrangements. Friends may call today at the funeral home where family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home or at the church.  

The son of George and Luretha (Gearhart) Bucklin, he was born March 17, 1918, in Ira. On Sept. 7, 1935, he married Helen Marie Pershall in Newton. He was a farmer for more than 40 years and retired in 1981. He was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed his dogs and horses.  

Survivors include his wife, four sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene E. and Kayleen, H. David and Mary and Dennis G. and Lois, all of Baxter, and Kenneth D. and Beverly of Sigourney, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Jean of Baxter, Vernon and Phyllis of Aplington and Gerald and Donna of Missouri.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a brother.
