 Marjorie E. Callahan

Marjorie E. Callahan, 81, of 624 S. 4th Ave. died of heart failure Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

 Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Father Phil Cardenzana of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

 Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice Jasper County.

The daughter of Laurn C. and Doris M. Buchanan Iske, she was born Jan. 8, 1930, in rural Newton. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School. On Sept. 3, 1944, she married Edward L. Callahan in Purple, Okla. Mrs. Callahan worked for Family Foods Grocery, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband: two sons daughters-in-law, Tim and Joyce Callahan of Prairie City and Mike and Betsy Callahan of Broken Arrow, Okla., two granddaughters, two brothers, Keith Iske of Newton and Rex Iske of Davenport and a sister, Virginia Stemmed of Cheyenne, Wyo.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
