Fred S. Cool

 DES MOINES - Fred S. Cool, 62, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter with the Rev. Gene Bucklin officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton where the family will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association and may be left at the visitation, funeral or may be sent to the funeral home.

 The son of Charles J, and Ida May Vancise Cool, he was born June 25, 1939, in Newton. He graduated from Baxter High School in 1957. On Feb. 28, 1959, he married Ardith A. Caylor in Nashua. He worked for Iowa Beverage Systems Inc. as a truck driver for 13 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 109 in Des Moines. Mr. Cool was a longtime resident of Jasper County, living In Baxter from 1939 to 1958 and in Newton from 1958 to 1998. He lived in Des Moines from 1998 to the present.

 Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kelly of Des Moines; a daughter and son-in-law, Stefanie and Joe Squire of Newton, four grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Sylvia of Baxter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
