Arlene F. Coonts

Arlene F. Coonts, 73, of 1800 S. 4th Ave. E. died Monday, Nov. 26, of heart failure at Careage of Newton. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m.  at the Foursquare Church in Newton with the Rev. James Black officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown at a later date. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where family will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.   

 The daughter of William J. and Mabel M. Boozel Svejda, she was born July 18, 1928, in Pocahontas. She graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1946, On Aug. 1. 1946, she married Willis G. Coonts in San Francisco, Calif. She lived in Gladbrook from 1969 until 1984, when she moved to Newton. Mrs. Coonts was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

 Survivors include a son, Michael Coonts of Newton, two daughters and a son-in-law, Vicky and Scott Mulbrook and Constance {Connie) Smith, all of Newton, three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister.
