K. James Rodger
K, James, 69, of 607 E. 7th St. N. died of a heart attack Saturday, Oct. 13, at
Skiff Medical Center on Newton. Funeral
services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton
with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center officiating. The body will be
cremated following the services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home where family will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The son of Charles LaVerne
and Reva Maxine Oliver James, he was born April 10, 1932, in Newton. He
graduated from Newton Senior High School, Long Beach Community College and
General Electric Technical School. On Nov. 16, 1957, he married Rose M. Ruple in
Newton. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean
Conflict. He owned and
operated James Refrigeration for 30 years, doing major appliance servicing. He
was a resident of Newton for the past 59 years. He previously lived in Missouri
Valley, Dallas, Texas, and Long Beach, Calif., for six years.
Mr. James attended the
Assembly of God Church and was involved in AA for the past 11 years. He was a
past member of the American Legion Post 111, VFW Post 1655, Moose Lodge and the
Iowa Air Guard. Survivors
include his wife, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rusty of Denver, Colo.,
Marty and Margaret James of Las Vegas, Nev., and Shawn and Joyce James of
Newton, three grand- children and four sisters and daughters-in-law, Darlene
Vespestad of Pampa, Texas, Diane and Bob Blackburn and Joyce and Mac McDonald,
all of Davenport, and Jessica and John Allison of Newton. He was preceded in death by
