Leo Lane G.
Leo Lane, 81, of 306 E. 25th St. N. died of complications following heart
surgery Thursday, Jan. 31, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services
will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with
the Rev. Ed Aubuchon, pastor of the Newton First Assembly of God Church,
officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call
after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home
where family will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in
his name and may be left at the funeral home. The son of George and Selma
Anderson Lane, he was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Rex Five. He was a 1940 graduate of
Newton Senior High School. On July 2, 1942, he married Wilma Bagnall in
Kirksville, Mo. He had owned and operated a carpenter and contractor business
for more than 30 years. He later worked for the Holiday Inn for 19 years as a
maintenance man, prior to his retiring. Mr. Lane enjoyed hunting and fishing. He
held a lifetime fishing license from the State of Iowa. Survivors include his wife,
four sons and three daughters-in-law, Larry and Sally of Cedar Falls, Michael of
Newton, Timothy and Tina of Spencer and James and Elizabeth of Pleasantville, 10
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters-in-law,
Phillip and Marge and Don and Marcella, all of Newton. He was preceded in death by
his parents, a grandson and three brothers, Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, February 2, 2002. |
