W. Langmaid Don
W. Langmaid, 96, of Newton died of complications of pneumonia at Skiff Medical
Center in Newton. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel
Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. Ken Van Loon of Immanuel Baptist Church
and the Rev. Willis Grant of Wittemberg Church in rural Newton officiating.
Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home In Newton
is handling arrangements. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home where family will be available from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Memorials will be accepted to Wittemberg Church or to Jasper County Historical
Museum and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the day of the
service. The son of
Willis B. and Lena Mackerman Langmaid, he was born May 6, 1905, in Newton. He
graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1923. On April 18, 1934, he married
Pearl Loupee in Green Mountain. He was a farmer and had been a Pioneer Seed Corn
Dealer for more than 25 years. He had lived on the same farm his entire life. Mr. Langmaid was
a member of Wittemberg Church, Wittemberg Grange, Jasper County Farm Bureau and
Jasper County Historical Society. Survivors include a son and
daughter-in-law, Bud and Marilyn of Newton; two daughters and a son-in-law,
Beverly Edge of Newton and Sandra and Rex Warden of Kellogg; 11 grandchildren;
36 great-grandchildren; six great great grandchildren, and a sister, Wilma
Tinnermeier of Newton. He was preceded in death by
