Albert Lourens

PELLA — Albert Lourens, 88, of Pella, former of Mitchellville, died Saturday, Dec. 8, at Skiff Medical Center In Newton.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will be a Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements. Friends may call, after 2 p.m Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.

 The son of Albert and Aartje Snetselaar Lourens, he was born Dec.  1, 1913, in Washington Township, Prairie City. On June 1, 1938, he married Sarah Marie McCormick in Nashua. He was a farmer in the Mitchellville area and owned and operated the Colfax Locker. He had lived In Pella this past year.

 Survivors include his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bill Johnson of Plano, Texas, three grandchildren, five brothers, Garrett of Mitchellville, John and Orie, both of Pella, Ben of Prairie City and George of Cambridge; and three sisters, Gertrude Van Zee of Pella, Bertha Vande Lune of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Elizabeth Koonce of Santes, Calif.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two brothers and a sister.
