Opal I. McCarty

Opal I. McCarty, 90, of 201 4th St. S. died of congestive heart failure Tuesday, Feb. 19, at USA Healthcare Newton. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home where family will be available from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials wll1 be accepted to The Salvation Army and may be left at the funeral home.  

The daughter of Arthur R. and Martha E. Simpson, she was born March 5, 1911, in Reasnor. She attended school in Reasnor. She grew up in Reasnor and also lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, for 25 years. On July 28, 1948, she married Floyd A. McCarty in Columbia City, Ind., and was a homemaker.  

Survivors include her husband, a brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Pat Simpson of Des Moines, a sister, Agnes Ross of Newton and several nieces and nephews.  

 She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
